Forum Title: Painting fire hydrants
We paint a ton of fire hydrants and struggle with the best method. I keep going back to using upside down aerosols because of ease. Aerosols do fade fast though and even though I haven't been called back I don't like the quality. I spray curb with sherwin William's air o jet red and promar yellow. Spraying hydrants with air o jet out of my gun leaves runs and drips and over spray. I've tried 215 tips. Anyone else paint hydrants that has found an efficient quality procedure? I also put asphalt shingles around the concrete bases to protect from overspray and drips

I thought fire hydrants belong to the fire department, & they maintained them.

we used a Titan 440 electric and a generator. I think it was a 113 tip with red rustoleum paint. Worked good.

In hoas... at least in Vegas they belong to the hoa and maintenance is up to the hoa. I've been told if they are red they belong to the fire dept. Yellow they belong to the hoa. We get contracted by hoas to paint red ones and yellow one, so I really dont know. I just know we get paid to paint ton of them.
